Creating an Infographic

Hello everyone!!

Today I am here to explain you another fantastic resource as it is an Infographic. For those who don't know what it is, here is the definition according to Wikipedia:  Infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present information quickly an clearly.

Therefore, as the definition says it has to be very graphic, that it, it has to include images in a clear way without distracting the attention from the text. So it has to be understandable and the images has to make reference to the text that they are next to.

There are different tools to do this Infographics but in my case I chose Canva. Canva is a tool with which you can do plenty of things, from presentations to your CV passing trough posters and of course infographics. With Canva is really easy to do these things because the tool itself gives you several different templetes to choose from. Once you have chosen the one that fits best for what you are doing, you can change the background, add more things, change the color...

If my explanations aren't enough go and try it by yourself!!

But before... HERE IS MY INFOGRAPHIC. I decided to do it about the planets as I like the theme and personally, it is something that seeing it visually can help students understand the content better.

Trying to do Mind Maps online!

Hello everybody!

Today I am here to talk about mind maps. After searching for different apps to do mind maps finally I have decided to do it with creately. I have decided to do it with this app for several reasons. First of all, because it is really easy to use it, and for me that I am use to doing mind maps by hand it's an advantage.

Furthermore, I found it really useful because you can add as many pictures as you want, change them, do them bigger or smaller... that is, you can put it in the way that is best for you. With this app you can also change the color of the text or the color of the boxes. In my case as I have done it about the water, I've used different blue color-scheme so it is easy to differentiate the different levels of the mind map.

Regarding the arrows inside the mind map, this can be changed too, I mean, you can choose to draw a normal arrow, more elaborate arrows or just a line. Which is a plus because in this way when you want to use just a line because you don't find necessary an arrow you can put it.

Anyhow, that is all I have to say about this app. If you try it, let me know so we can learn from each other.

P.S. Here I leave you my own mind map. Hope its useful :)

STORYBOARD

Good afternoon!

Today I've been experiencing with Storyboard That. This web is an amazing an easy way of doing comics. Once you are in the web, you create an account and start creating your own comic. One of the things I liked about it is that you have plenty of different options of everything, background, characters, text tables... moreover, if you don't want to use any of the backgrounds that are already made, you can create your own one. I find this really useful because you might have an specific idea in your mind and none of the already set backgrounds fit that so being able to create your own one is fantastic.

Furthermore, comics have always been a very useful resource for students because it is really visual with not much text, so it may be easier for students to read and enjoy while reading. And it may be also easier for students to create a story with comics than by just writing a whole story with no pictures in it.

I've created a comic related with emotions and I think it reflects the way many students, specially the little ones felt when they receive the news, how are they feeling this days and how they will feel once all this virus is over. I've done is due to the circumstances that we are going through but you can choose any emotion that you want to show to your students.

This is all for today, I hope you enjoyed it and stay safe!

Content Curation

Today we have learned to use Pinterest. For those who don't know what Pinterest is, I am going to explain it to you. Pinterest is a great tool in which you can find lots of resources. Once you have chosen the resources that are useful for you, you can save them and create a pin or a folder with those resources.

In my case, I have searched for resources related to the water, such as the water cycle or the states of matter. I have pin all of them into a folder called Science in CLIL, so in the future I can add more resources that I find interesting related to science.

Hello to everybody again!!

Today we are going to learn the names of the different weather types with the first graders. In order to do so, the teacher will show them the different pictures while saying the name of them and asking the students to repeat them. We can do it by putting all the pictures in a Power Point presentation and showing this to the students on the white board.
